FAQ: Wright Township 2026 Per Capita Tax

Authorized by Ordinance 2025-04 and Resolution 2025-30

What is this tax? Passed in December 2025, this is a $10.00 flat annual tax on residents. The funds support Wright Township general operations.

Why did the Supervisors pass this? The tax was instituted to diversify township revenue and ensure that all adult residents who utilize township services (roads, police, fire, and parks) contribute to the municipal budget, rather than relying solely on property owners.

Who is automatically exempt? No action or application is required if you are:

  • 67 years of age or older.
  • Under 18 years of age.

Who is exempt but MUST apply for a waiver? Per the ordinance, these residents are exempt but must file a waiver application with Berkheimer to avoid being billed:

  • Income-Based: Total 2025 income from all sources is under $10,000. (Application due Apr. 15)
  • Nursing Home: Residents living in a skilled care facility. (Application due Apr. 15)
  • Students: Full-time students (Application deadline is June 30).
  • Other: Active-duty military or permanently disabled residents. (Application due Apr. 15)
