Wright Township celebrated Local Government Day on Thursday, April 11 with the Wright Township Volunteer Fire Department, police department and court, Mountain Top Ambulance and the Wright Township Public Works Department. Third graders from Fairview, St. Jude and Rice Elementary schools took part in the celebration.
The children toured the police department with Officer Rozitski and explored the holding cell, they sat in the courtroom and listened to District Judge Ferris Webby talk about the court system and what he does, then they listened to firefighters and EMTs talk about emergency situations. Finally they visited with supervisor, fireman and road crew foreman Matt Howton to hear about what Public Works Department does.
After the children visited all four stations, they enjoyed cookies and juice in the public works garage.
